wheeeeee!
i got Clay's Xmas CD and my sis purchased his memoir, Learning to Sing: Hearing The Music In Your Life for meeeeeee!
his book is inspirational in a quirky sense, with a lot of Faye Parker's meaningful quotes. They project a strong meaning but in a subtle and gentle way. There are a few recipes of Clay's favourite childhood food. I've looked tru e ingredients and seriously, i have no idea where to get Lima beans.I dont even noe whats dat to say e truth.
the book did not contain overly bombastic vocabulary words or expressions, but it managed to get the point across. his life experiences were just left out in the open, in the form of a hardcover book, for every child or man to get a glimpse of.
his blistering childhood past, was a souvenir of the struggling life he grew up in. there were memories he wish had been long forgotten, yet they were still embedded in his mind, cos he himself knew he would not have gotten where he is now without learnin frm them.
he recalled memories frm birth til high school, and none of them were very nice.
he was what you call an "accidental" child, and he was born with a collapsed lung.his life wasn sailing smoothly right from the beginning.
and i was really touched. he described his life in the YMCA and how he grew to love working with autistic children. someone with a personality and willpower like his doesn't come around everyday.and i really admire him for that.although i like his "revenge of the nerds" style very much, his voice is the sole power that really attracts me.and he has a sense of humour to boot. =)
